Finalist Category 2 – Best solution of a WHS Risk
P.T. Automation Solutions was recognised for its invention of the ABCD Arc-fault Containment Modular Outdoor Switchboard at the National Safety Awards of Excellence in Sydney – October 2018.
PTAS were 1 of 4, SME (<50 staff) Finalists for Best Solution of a WHS Risk, it was the only electrical safety innovation.
Our ABCD switchboard developed out of PTAS’s refreshed safety culture where everyone became involved in a goal to improve safety of switchboards for maintenance staff and the public. Two innovations have received awards recognition in 2018; the QR-Online Customer Support System makes it safer for maintenance staff to access critical information about switchboards via smart devices before exposing themselves to risk. The ABCD switchboard makes it safe for operators and public by containing and defusing arc-fault explosions within the enclosure.
NSCA covers safety and health matters across all industries, with expanding interest in wellness due to its recognised influence on safety outcomes. This was also the feature of Prof Nikki Ellis keynote address. In Niki’s work she explored the relationship between physical and mental health conditions, and the boundary between safety and wellness.
It is something that we can embrace through promotion and involvement of quit smoking, healthy diet, and fitness programs for our People. This fits nicely within our SEQCD|P Integrated Management System and something for PTAS to make a focus in 2019.
